This project relates to a refurbishment project for The Square Shopping Centre, Tallaght. The scope of works included for the provision of new floor, wall and ceiling finishes, together with replacement life safety systems and a new lighting system for the existing malls. The scope also included the upgrading of the existing mall entrances, refurbishment of the central atrium and the installation of a pay-on-foot ticket entry system to the car parks.
McCarthy & Associates were appointed by the financial institution to carry out an initial appraisal report on the developers work packages and cost reports for the refurbishment of the shopping centre. Having reviewed the proposals McCarthy & Associates identified a number of significant cost / design /contract risks associated with the proposed works. The concerns raised were reviewed with the bank and the developer and McCarthy & Associates prepared a corrective action plan which was agreed and implemented by all parties.
When the project commenced on site McCarthy & Associates were appointed to monitor the construction works and report monthly on progress of the project and comment on the developer’s monthly valuation reports.
Works were subsequently completed on programme and within budget.
